SAE's Home Office is in Thessaloniki, the capital of Hellenic Macedonia in Northern Greece. Thessaloniki, because of its long history of accepting refugees, is considered the capital of worldwide Hellenism.

Besides its member organizations represented through the delegates, SAE unites Hellenism through the Regional SAEs and their regional coordinating councils; SAE Secretariats; the Networks on Business, Women, Culture and Academics, and the Youth Council. SAE is affiliated with the World Hellenic Interparliamentary Union.
