Mr. Athens explains dynamic vision of SAE focus on networks, trade, ETO in 2003

THESSALONIKI, February 13 -- "SAE is much more than figures and projects. It is a dynamic vision that sees world Hellenism and Orthodoxy as a unifying force for people who live in the four corners of the world, people who feel that they share the most glorious heritage human race has ever known. It is a heritage that places extraordinary obligations on those who are called to carry the burden of Hellenic ideals and culture in the Diaspora."

With these thought Andrew A. Athens, President of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad, today opened the first 2003 meeting of SAE's Board in Thessaloniki and advised the 11-member board that:

· Unity will allow SAE to demonstrate the power that it really has;
· Integrity and accountability are essential for SAE to survive and prosper.

Mr. Athens also named 2003 "Year of SAE's Networks," and called for the preparation of business plans for each of the four networks and the Youth Council. Networks cover the issues of business, culture, women, and science.

· National issues will be given continued priority with an emphasis on Cyprus and the recognition of the Patriarch in Jerusalem.
