Mr. Andrew A. Athens is a man who has not only achieved business success but has distinguished himself through his lifelong commitment and dedication to charitable causes and alleviation of human suffering.

In 1950, Mr. Athens co-founded Metron Steel Corporation, a major steel service center in the Midwest, serving as its President and CEO from 1950 through 1991. He now serves as chairman of the board of Alpha Steel, but he devotes his full-time to volunteer work on behalf of Hellenism and Orthodoxy.

In 1995, Mr. Athens became the founding World President of the Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) and was re-elected to that position by the international assembly of delegates three times since then, the last time in 2001. SAE is an historic, international movement that unites Hellenes around the globe under one non-profit, non-governmental organization. SAE's constituency consists of 7 million Hellenes around the world in unity with 10 million Hellenes in Greece. One main goal of SAE is to strengthen the ties between Hellenes abroad and those in Greece as well as among Hellenes in their countries of citizenship or residence.
